With the first model of the Volkswagen Bus rolling out of the factory in 1950 it proved a perfect vehicle for transporting goods as well as people. A functional van with ample space and usability for whatever you may need.

The US market for the van flourished in the 50’s with the beach crowd. The ability to transport surf boards and multiple friends made it ideal for beach life and, firmly solidified it as part of the surfer culture.

The 23-window Volkswagen Samba Bus was originally marketed for touring the Swiss Alps. The windows made it ideal for viewing the Mountains. Over time these busses have become very sought after collector cars commanding high prices. Many include “Safari Windows” (opening windshields) and a large retractable ragtop sunroof.

It’s hard to overlook the utility these cars offer. Equipping versions with camping options made them very attractive for venturing into to the great outdoors. Multiple configurations for countless situations made them an indispensable tool for exploring the world.

Who can forget the Volkswagen Bus as an iconic symbol of the 60’s Peace and Love movement. Their utilitarian flexibility mad them perfect for the hippy lifestyle and the need to be much more that a bus, a canvas for artistic expression.

With the introduction of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz (an all-electric take on the old bus) you can relive the past with a modern version. Updated to handle today’s needs the I.D. Buzz brings a smile to my face every time I see one with their beautiful color combinations. They are a breath of fresh air.
